IPL 2025: LSG Crush SRH with Nicholas Pooran’s Blazing Knock and Shardul Thakur Bowling Masterclass

The IPL 2025 season witnessed another high-voltage clash as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a dominant five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at their home ground. Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, LSG chased down the 191-run target with ease, thanks to a breathtaking 70-run knock from Nicholas Pooran and a crucial half-century by Mitchell Marsh. Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur wreaked havoc with the ball, scalping four wickets to dismantle Hyderabad’s batting lineup.

This marked Lucknow’s first win of the season, while SRH suffered their maiden defeat after a strong start to IPL 2025.

Nicholas Pooran Unleashes Carnage in Hyderabad

Chasing 191, LSG got off to a shaky start as Adam Markram departed cheaply, scoring just one run. However, the dynamic duo of Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh steadied the innings with a remarkable 116-run partnership for the second wicket.

Pooran played an electrifying knock, smashing 70 runs off just 26 balls at a staggering strike rate of 269. His innings included six boundaries and six towering sixes, leaving the SRH bowlers clueless. The left-hander’s aggressive intent turned the game in LSG’s favor, putting Hyderabad on the backfoot early in the chase.

Once Pooran was dismissed, Marsh took charge, crafting a classy 52 off 31 deliveries. His innings featured seven boundaries and two maximums, ensuring LSG stayed on track. Captain Rishabh Pant contributed 15 runs before getting out, while David Miller added 13. Abdul Samad provided the finishing touch with a quickfire 22 off eight balls, sealing the victory for Lucknow Super Giants.

Shardul Thakur Magical Spell Derails SRH Batting Lineup

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disastrous start as their openers failed to provide a solid foundation. Shardul Thakur struck in quick succession, dismissing both Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on consecutive deliveries, sending early shockwaves through the SRH camp.

Nitish Reddy and Travis Head then tried to stabilize the innings with a much-needed partnership. Head was eventually cleaned up by Prince Yadav, while Ravi Bishnoi got the better of Reddy, ending his resistance. Heinrich Klaasen looked promising with a brisk 26 off 17 balls but was unlucky to get run out at a crucial juncture.

Towards the end, Aniket Verma provided a late flourish, smashing 36 runs off just 13 balls to propel SRH to a respectable total of 190/9 in 20 overs. However, Lucknow’s bowling attack, led by Shardul Thakur (4/34), ensured Hyderabad couldn’t breach the 200-run mark.

LSG Commanding Win Sets the Tone for IPL 2025

This emphatic victory gave LSG a much-needed boost, proving their strength in both batting and bowling departments. With Nicholas Pooran in red-hot form and Shardul Thakur leading the pace attack, Lucknow has sent a strong message to the other IPL teams.

With IPL 2025 heating up, all eyes will be on LSG as they aim to maintain their winning momentum, while SRH will look to bounce back stronger in their next fixture. Stay tuned for more IPL updates and match highlights!
